Rams have five named CCCMBCA Academic All-State
Gavilan College student-athletes not only excel on the court, but in the classroom. On Monday, five members of the 2024-25 Rams men's basketball team were named to the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) Academic All-State team.
To be eligible for the CCCMBCA Academic All-State Team, a men's basketball student-athlete must have completed at least one season of competition, accumulated a minimum of 24 units from the beginning of his first season of competition, and posted a minimum 3.50 grade point average in those units.
Earning this impressive recognition from last season's Rams squad were Bricen Buciak (3.90 GPA), Uriah Brown (3.83), Savion Johnson-Robinson (3.79), Eric Villalobos (3.63), and Jayden Fowler (3.53).
"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes who have earned Academic All-State honors," said Gavilan College Director of Athletics and Kinesiology Jamie Adams. "Their dedication to excellence both in the classroom and on the court exemplifies the true spirit of our program.
"Achieving high academic standards while competing at a high level takes discipline, resilience, and heart — qualities that will serve them well beyond college athletics. This recognition reflects their hard work, the support of our coaching staff, and the culture of success we strive to build here every day."
Overall, 109 men's basketball student-athletes representing 30 colleges from across the state received the honor.
