Rams close season with win; Martinez earns All-Coast Conference South Division honors

GILROY – The Gavilan College women's basketball team closed out a tough 2023-24 season with a win as the Rams defeated visiting Cabrillo College by a final score of 54-46.

It was the Rams' second win of the season over Cabrillo.

Jay Trejo scored a season-high 20 points and added 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Alexa Martinez had 14 points and 7 rebounds while Alexa Flores chipped in with 10 points and 8 boards.

Gavilan ended with a 2-24 overall record and was 2-10 in Coast Conference South Division play.

ALL-COAST CONFERENCE SOUTH DIVISION HONORS

Gavilan College guard Alexa Martinez was named to the All-Coast Conference South Division second team following an impressive season with the Rams.

The freshman averaged 6.7 points per game overall for the season, but was even better in conference action by scoring 8.8 points per contest. Martinez also averaged 4.2 rebounds.

Martinez is a native of Warm Springs, Ore. and competed at Madras High School prior to her arrival at Gavilan.
