PITTSBURG – The Gavilan College women's volleyball team began the 2025 season with a pair of non-conference matches at Los Medanos College on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, the Rams come out on the losing of both contest by scores of 3-0. Gavilan got the season started with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 loss to host Los Medanos and followed that with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-13 setback to College of Marin.
Sophomore Jada Dickens led Gavilan with 6 kills to go along with 6 digs and 3 aces against Los Medanos while freshman Aliylah Rodriguez totaled 11 digs.
Dickens and Rodriguez again paced the Rams against Marin. Dickens came up with 6 kills and 7 assists with Rodriguez posted 9 digs. Sophomore Miya Santo also had 9 digs in the contest.
Gavilan, now 0-2, is back in action on Sep. 10 when the Rams travel to Folsom Lake College for a pair of non-conference matches. Gavilan is set to take on College of the Siskiyous at 2 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. match against Butte College.
The Rams are scheduled to play their first six matches on the road before making their home debut on Sep. 17 against Columbia College at 5 p.m.
