Rams open October with 3-1 win at San Jose

SAN JOSE – Sophomore Jada Dickens totaled 14 assists, 14 digs, and 9 digs to help lead Gavilan College to its first win, a 3-1 victory at San Jose City College on Wednesday.

The Rams nearly pulled off the sweep but settled for the 25-23, 25-13, 20-25, 25-23 triumph in four sets.

Dickens' huge matched fueled the win. Her 14 assists were a season-high while the 14 digs tied her season-best. Dickens also added 5 blocks (2 solo) and 3 aces.

Faith Zermeno added 6 kills while Keira Tryforos posted 5 kills. Aliylah Rodriguez totaled 10 digs and Juana Ruiz contributed 8 digs and 4 kills.

Gavilan moved its overall record to 1-12. The Rams are back in action next Wednesday (Oct. 8) to take on City College of San Francisco at home.
